OBJECT STUDY

Twenty-three gilt-bronze beads strung on waxed black cord, graduating in size toward a singular engraved focal bead at center. Each flanking bead is oblate-spheroid in form, vertically ribbed with deep parallel fluting terminating at granulated collar rings. The fluting catches oxidation in its recesses, producing a two-tone effect: raised ridges worn to bright gold, grooves holding dark bronze patina. Visible seam lines on several beads confirm hollow construction from two pressed halves. The center bead departs from the series: smooth sphere surface densely worked with scrolling foliate engraving, flanked by beaded wire collars. Surface shows localized pitting and handling wear consistent with age. Associated with Balochi silversmithing traditions of Afghanistan and Pakistan, where repoussé and press-formed hollow beadwork served as portable wealth objects. Cord closure is a simple adjustable slip knot.
