Heavy-gauge sterling signet, oxidized to a flat graphite tone across the shank with lighter silver surfacing along the shoulders where contact wear has abraded the patina. The bezel setting is flush, minimal, holding a large oval Dur-E Najaf quartz cabochon of pale cream translucency. A pronounced dendritic inclusion runs through the stone's center, dark brown and lance-shaped, suspended beneath the polished dome surface. The underside of the bezel shows accumulated darkening at the seat joint. Shank interior is smooth, cast rather than fabricated, with faint surface micro-pitting consistent with age. Dur-E Najaf stones, sourced historically from the Najaf region of Iraq, carry significance in Islamic talismanic tradition and were commonly set in this manner for devotional wear.
