SURFACE LANGUAGE

The full circumference of this band is carved in continuous relief with a memento mori procession, skulls alternating with cross and bone motifs in an unbroken narrative loop. The carving is deeply incised, creating a topography of death iconography that wraps the entire structural element. Deep oxidation fills every carved line and hollow, making the skull eye sockets read as pure void against the brighter raised surfaces. Interior band is stamped ''S925'' with a maker's mark, confirming the sterling substrate beneath the patina. The relief work is precise and detailed, each skull individually articulated with nasal cavity, orbital sockets, and teeth lines visible even at small scale. A heavy, substantial band with the weight and presence of a ritual object.
