SURFACE LANGUAGE

This chassis from Vero Moda deploys an all-over ruched quilting system that transforms the lambskin surface into a topographic landscape. Horizontal channels, densely gathered and stitched, cover the entire body, sleeves, and shoulder fields—creating a padded, almost upholstered texture that reads as both protective and ornamental. The quilting produces a rhythmic shadow play across the black surface, each channel catching light differently.

A wide notched lapel folds asymmetrically across the chest, bisected by a diagonal front zipper that follows the classic moto trajectory. Two zip pockets angle into the quilted flanks, their metal hardware providing the only non-quilted punctuation on the front panel. The overall effect is one of compressed volume—a garment that has been systematically padded, stitched, and structured until it approaches sculptural density.
